Great Gift Ideas for Last Minute!

Seriously folks!  It's getting to be crunch time.  If you are anything like me you have about (oh who's counting!) gifts to make and only 24 days to do them!  I've been searching for great last minute gift ideas and I would like to share them with you. These are great gift ideas for the last minute crafter like myself:

snow on the laurel
"These pretty Arm Warmers feature an eye catching center cable surrounded by Reverse Stockinette to help showcase the delicate leaf pattern
For easier knitting the pattern is written worked inside out so you’re knitting mostly in Stockinette while the center cable stitches are created on the Purl side of the work. Simply turn the warmer right side out when completed to reveal the cables. Viola! Fun, simple, and oh so pretty. Since there is no thumb hole, you can also wear these as leg warmers."
Can you say no thumb gusset shaping = quick knit, even if you have to make two :)
This pattern is free for now on Ravlery until Christmas, so hurry over there and download it now~

peaked hat
Another FREE pattern on Ravlery the crocheted Peaked Hat is the perfect go to hat for the season!  Pick out a couple of you favorite buttons to show and start hooking!

Keep checking back here, I have many more projects to share!

Stuff it Stocking KAL with Ewe Ewe!

Tis the season!  Are stockings on your knit list this year?  Join me at Stash for a knit-along with Ewe Ewe Yarns to make the Stuff It Stocking.  These stockings will look great on your mantle and will make great gifts too!

Ewe Ewe yarns is hosting their first ever KAL for the Stuff it Stocking starting December 3rd.  It’s a simple pattern using US8 needles and Wooly Worsted yarn. You can make the stocking even if you’ve never knit a sock before.  And the pattern has a few extra techniques for the more experienced knitter.  You will be finished with your stocking well before Christmas.

Stash has great colors to choose from including traditional colors and non–traditional colors.

This pattern takes one skein each of three colors.  Join us on Tuesdays (12/3, 12/10, & 12/17) from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, for the KAL where you can get help, offer tips, share your color choices, and knit in good company!  You can also follow the KAL on the Ewe Ewe Blog, their Facebook page, Twitter, or KAL Ravelry group.

Here are the dates and topics for each section for the KAL:

Tuesday 12/3: Casting on, knitting in the round, working the hem at the top
Thursday 12/5: knitting the body of the sock and carrying colors while striping
Tuesday 12/10: Making the heel flap, turning the heel, knitting the instep
Thursday 12/12: Decreasing for the toe and Kitchner Stich.
Tuesday 12/17: Hang loop i-cord, finishing and blocking.  Santa’s coming!

Call, email, or stop by Stash to sign up for the free KAL and purchase your supplies!

Manos del Uruguay's Alegria

In Spanish Alegria means Joy.  I have to say when you knit with this hand-painted sock yarn from Manos del Uruguay all you feel is joy!  The colors alone are enough to brighten any grey day, then there is the softness of the superwash merino.  Alegria is the perfect choice for any fingering weight project, from socks to shawls and even baby projects.  I've knit a couple shawls and love them, I've seen socks knit with it and they are amazing!  If you are not into the super bights above, you can try a more subdue palette like the skeins below, which I think are perfect Autumn colors!

Free Hat and Mitts patterns!

Big Chunky Comfy Hat

Chunky Lova Mitts

Super fun brights are everywhere this year.  The are perfect for fun accessories like this hat and fingerless mitts combo!  It's all about fast, chunky, and funky knits.

This yarn is part of the My Mountain collection from Schachenmayr Yarns.  Go to the My Mountain web site for tons of free hat patterns using all the yarns in the collection.  They are fun to knit and crochet!

Find the FREE Big Chunky Comfy Hat pattern on Ravelry.com.  This hat takes one skein for most, but took me a little over one skein, I needed just enough to finish the last three rows!  So I came up with the matching fingerless mitts pattern, and used up every little bit of yarn.  That's right NO left over yarn!

Here is the pattern for the Chunky Lova Mitts:

Needles:  US 11 DPN's

CO 20 sts, join for working in the round, careful not to twist the stitches!

Cuff: K2, P2 ribbing for 5 rows

Hand: K 10 rows even

Thumb opening:   Row 1: purl  Row 2: Knit.  Repeat last two rows three more times

Top of hand: K 2 rows

Finish: K2, P2 ribbing for 5 rows

BO loosely and enjoy!
