We Moved!

Stash has moved to a bigger space in The Barn. We are still upstairs, but now you can find us on the West side. The space is bigger, which makes for better browsing and more space for classes and clubs. Carol and I are excited about more room. We cannot wait to fill it up with wonderful fibers for knitting and sewing!

New Fabric at Stash

We've just gotten a new shipment of fabrics in.
Here you see a small sample of what we've added to our stash.

They're Stuffed!

Our class has come to an end. Every one of us had so much fun. The end results turned out fantastic. We can't wait to make more and more gum drops.

Diane's pillow with Amy Butler fabric. I love the fun polka dots!

Melany's pillow. She choose beautiful fabric.

First we cut, then we sew, next we stuff

Part two of our Gumdrop class. Last time we cut all the pieces and pinned them together. This time we sewed the gumdrops. By the end of the night they were done with the sewing and the pillows looked FABULOUS! Next, we stuff the gumdrops. We can't wait to see the end result.

WOW!

I've opened boxes that were delivered to my door before and was over excited about the contents. Everything we've ordered for Stash so far has been beautiful, in our eyes. But, when I opened this last box I was speechless. I hope the pictures do the colors of the yarn justice! Trust me when I say WOW!

Two best friends and their backpacks. It alwasy makes you feel happy about a fininshed project when the intended loves it and shows it off to EVERYONE! When asked, Sarah and Emma say "my mom made it!" beaming with pride and big ole smiles on thier faces.

Christmas Stocking Class

Another great and fun class at Stash. Diane and Cheryl are getting a head start on their Christmas stockings. Diane chose a beautiful green color from Manos called malachite. Cheryl's is an amazing Manos red variegated wool named flame!

Making Gumdrops!

Have I told you gumdrops can be addicting? Well, we've hooked others on 'em too. Stash had a class and three very wonderful gals joined in on the fun. Our goal: to have the whole world covered in gumdrops of every size and color.

Diane oh so carefully tracing the pattern for her gumdrop. The polka dots are too cute and will look great in the end!

Melany was so excited for this class, she couldn't wait to get started on this, and another one, and another one...

Miss Stephanie was walking through the Barn with her husband on date night and ditched him for the gumdrop. I shouldn't say "ditched" that's not very nice! Although, she did ask him very politely if she could stay for the class instead of going to dinner. As you can see he said yes. What a nice husband.

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!

We are still here! Carol and I have been very busy this past month. We had family trips and we've been working on many projects. We'll post pictures soon! I've been neglecting the blog and I'm sorry. My very awesome and talented husband and I have been working hard to create a new web design for Stash. Check it out: www.fystash.com It's new and I believe improved. You will be able to see all the things Stash has in the shop. Including swatches of fabric and color choices of yarn.

Carol had been busy working on a very cute backpack pattern exclusive to Stash. We are looking for test knitters to try out the pattern before we make it public. If you are interested contact us: crafts@fystash.com The Picture will be posted soon! She has also been preparing for the upcoming holiday season and has finished a stocking for a class.

I have been busy too! I found myself in the middle of five projects and had to sit myself down and finish each one. I finished another pair of socks, two more bears for The Mother Bear Project, a few more softies that my daughter made claim to, an adorable pair of leg warmers, and a great shoulder wrap made from a beautiful handpaint burly yarn from Brown Sheep Company.

Stay tuned, and we'll show you the finished projects!

Summer is for Sewing!

I have a tendency to sew more in the summer and knit in the winter. Someone told me I was backward on this, but hey to each her own! I've fallen in love with softies. These little whimsical creatures are the cutest. My daughter has a list for a new softy to whip up daily. Right now I've completed only one. I think he may be my favorite. This little creature was designed by Lynda Lye, I found this pattern in the "Softies" book by Therese Laskey. I call him my tree huggin' friend. He's filled with recycled/reused materials. For his trunk I used plastic shopping bags. It gives him a crunchy feel. Up on top I used left over yarn and fabric scraps. I know I'll have a nice little collection of these cute softies soon!

Addicted to Gumdrops

I admit it, I'm addicted...addicted to gumdrops. I started one as a sample to show in the store and now I'm up to three. Two large and one small. When I look at our fabric all I see are gumdrops. The old advertisement for "tootsie rolls" pops in my head, "What ever it is I think I see, becomes a gumdrop pillow to me!" I'm not sure if I'm at the point yet where I need an intervention, but I'll let you know. I'll post the picture of the third one soon!

Kids Knitting Club

Kids knitting club at Stash. What a blast! The kiddos had a good time. They are little sponges, just absorbing it all in. They learn so fast. Before you know it they'll be teaching us a thing or two.

Gum Drop Pillow

I finished my next project. I did Amy Butler's Gum Drop Pillow. It was so easy and so much fun. Just follow the instructions word-for-word, and in about four hours you have an awesome new ottoman/small coffee table/new seat! I used Amy Bulter Nigella Home Dec in Grandflora Aqua and some of my own left over gray canvas (this canvas has become somewhat of a signature fabric for me). LOVE IT!

Finished Shokay Hat

I finished the Shokay hat, and-then-some. It was the never ending skein! I knitted the first hat on size 8 straights (the pattern calls for size 8 circs). I couldn't find my circs at the time and wanted to get started A.S.A.P! The straights worked well, but the circs were much better. I guess I should follow the pattern :) This adorable hat is knitted from the top down, very intersesting. The Shokay yarn is so yummy to work with and once you throw it in the machine, yes, I said machine! It gets even softer. So I knitted the first hat, then the second , and the third. The last one has stripes. And I still have yarn left over! I'm sure I could get another small hat out of the left overs, we'll see. But, it's time to move on to the next project...

Shokay Hat

This will be my next project using Shokay 100% yak yarn. Get the free pattern from http://www.shokay.com/. This yarn is so yummy. Softer than cashmere, if you can believe it! And it's machine washable. It actually gets softer the more you wear/wash it. I'll be doing my hat in solid Azure with a Buttercup trim. I'll keep you posted. It's time to start knitting!
